It really depends on the size of your tank. They might be fine now but eventually will need more room. Some would say that your Auratus & Lab shouldn't be with the others since the others will become more aggressive and become a danger to the previous mentioned. You are already taking a gamble. Best of luck to you.

Your tank is a mess right now,you have mixed all kinds of cichlids that shouldn't be together.

The auratus and yellow lab are Malawi cichlids should only be mixed with other Malawis and I wouldn't mix auratus and yellow labs anyway because yellow labs are one of the mildest cichlids as far as aggression and auratus one of the most aggressive.

The convict , jack Dempsey and oscar are American cichlids that should not be together either. They should be alone or in a pair and you would need a huge tank for all those fish besides the other problems.

I will list a couple of web sites if you would like to do some research on cichlids and if you don't have the oscar yet don't get it until you have sorted out your other fish, you may have to rehome some of them or buy several large tanks as it is.

Um, no! That would be like keeping your pet Chihuahua in a shark tank and asking if you could add a lion... Auratus and the Lab are both African Cichlids that require water chemistry that is all together different than the water of the Convict, JD, and Oscar... Get the 2 Africans their own tank (30 gallons), and forget the idea about the South Americans... The Oscar will eat the Convict and the JD will kill the Oscar out of aggression...

What you are trying to do is apparently entirely without knowledge of these fish. Auratus and Labs are from lake Malawi, a rocky, alkaline biotope. JD's are Oscars are from riverine setups, more acid and planted biotopes. You are doing what is most common for beginners with cichlids, and also most wrong for proper keeping.

The Auratus and Lab can survive if you give them hiding spots to get away from the Oscar, but kept singly in a tank with those new worlds they'll never thrive and you'll never get to see them for what they are - you'll just have two fish coping in an unnatural environment, because the whole environment is wrong. As far as mixing the JD and Oscar, they'll end up fighting over the tank, and no doubt the JD will probably win despite his smaller size. The convict will probably end up somewhere in the middle too.

Go to www.cichlid-forum.com and read up - it's a good idea to learn how to keep these types of fish properly. Cichlids are terriotial, and there can be a massive difference between species.

P.S. To mix a convict, JD, and Oscar, even without lake Malawi fish, you should have a 75 gallon at the very least - and while you'll be missing all the best parts about keeping cichlids, at least there's a enough space for them to maybe, if you are lucky, tolerate each other enough not to kill each other.
