what makes you cry when thinking about your father. my dad is no longer with us and on my way to work i heard christina aguilara-hurt and friggen lost it. now im in a crying mood and wondering what your fav father/daughter songs are?

I think Eric Clapton's "Tears In Heaven" is one of the most touching song that has ever exist. He wrote this to commemorate his son's death. What can beat a song that is specially written by a father to his dead son? He asks his son, in this song, "Would you know my name if I see you in Heaven?"
"I'll Be There" by the Escape Club is a also gem on the subject of death. The writer writes from the point of view of the spirit, which says to the loved ones who are still alive: "...I may have died but I've gone nowhere. Just think of me & I'll be there."
When my best friend's dad died, I was listening to Mariah Carey's "Never Forget You" & tears just fell down my cheeks unknowingly as Mariah sings: "I won't see you smile, & I won't here you laugh anymore..."

I COMPLETELY understand the weird father/daughter thing. Wonderful Tonight was a great suggestion. Another good choice might be "Stardust". There are several versions from different singers, but at my wedding my stepfather and I danced to the Willie Nelson one. It was appropriate, and I love Willie's voice. Also, do you have brown eyes? : ) Van Morrisson's "Brown-Eyed Girl" would be cute. You could also check out some songs by David Grey, Ellis Paul, Ray Lamontagne, Corey Smith. Beautiful voices and melodies that could work nicely as a father/daughter song. Good luck, and congratulations on your wedding!

Well, I'll tell you what, I'm not much of a country fan, but that song called "I Loved Her First" makes me cry no matter what! Though it's more of a wedding song, not a death song. "Hurt" works for me too, because my dad is still alive but we're not what I would call close. Also, that Kelly Clarkson song "Because of You" pretty much sums it up, even though I think that is suposed to be about her mom.
Oh, also, "Daughters" by John Mayer, because it's all about how fathers need to treat their daughters right so they grow up trusting men and stuff. Oh, and "Dance With my Father" by Luther Vandross. Listen to the words, and you will cry.

There is a Paul Simon song that he did for The Wild Thornberry's movie. It plays at the begining of the credits. Goes something like..."nobody loves his daughter as much as I love you..." It's super sweet, and yes made me cry.

I love "How to Say Goodbye" by Michael W. Smith.
It's one of the songs on his new album "Stand". It never got raadio play but it is soooooooooooooo GOOD! Gets me crying everytime I listen to it.
