So I'm putting an itinerary together for a 2 month trip to Europe next year. I was wondering which city you would recommend and why. Thanks in advance :)

My German friend, who is an artist and lived in both cities, had some funny comments when I asked her.
She said Munich is a "village" compared to Berlin. She also said in Munich people were so "schicky Mickey"
(Always trying to be chic and posh.)
I thought Berlin was more fascinating, and I even went to East Berlin back in 1980 when it was DDR, so it's really an amazing world city, up there with Paris, London, New York.
Munich has a smaller center and there's a lot to do there, while Berlin seems more spread out, I guess since it had 2 centers for so long, and now it's very big, but green with lots of parks and trees.
I'd put it like this: if you think New York would be more interesting than Atlanta or Denver, go to Berlin.
Not that Munich is really similar to Atlanta or Denver, but Berlin does have a tough edge like NYC.
Go to both! It's good to see contrasts in different parts of the country.

Hi! I've been in the two cities! They are both wonderful, I loved Munich because of their buildings and people and environment, the mountains, the Alps, it's just an awesome city with a lot to do! So I would preffer Munich if you ask me, of course Berlin is the capital city, a huge city with lots of museums and theaters and like a normal metropole with a lot of people and very modern! So if you get a chance to see both, do it! It's totally worth it, but if I have to choose one, I would choose Munich!

Berlin will remind you the era of war!
and munich is sports city.
if you interest more about history and the past visit berlin. but if you interest more about modern and sports etc, visit munich.
