I will NEVER forget that moment. We ( my family and I )were all sitting in the living room watching the news.....it was in the daily news... Gosh I will never forget those silent tears of my mother and the compassionate words of my dad: Oh my God, this poor boy, I can't believe it , this poor boy is dead !!!
I mean a part of their youth died- the person who made so many people happy, died depressed and alone in his own bathroom ... :-(
Now 30 years ago , I own about 200 Cd's and 150 Lp's, plenty of books and DVDs- I made a few Radio shows - all Elvis specials !

I was 16 years old and at camp as a counselor. Most us counselors went into a deep funk and the rest of the week nothing was played (or sang) but Elvis songs. Our director nearly went nuts not understanding why.
The same sort of happened years later when John Lennon was shot.

I didn't realize that today is the anniversary.....I got a fountain drink at Speedway though today, and the cup was covered with pictures of Elvis which I thought was weird....and now it makes sense. It's a cool cup though...and when I got it I even thought...cool...I'm going to keep this cup.

I was in grade school and talking with a friend over the phone. His mom started yelling, Elvis has died. At first, I thought she was joking.

I was 12. I don't remember exactly what I was doing but I know I was downstairs when my 10 year old sister came in and told my family that her friend said Elvis died. We all laughed and no one believed it since her friend was known for lying.

I was 8 years old, it was my best friend's birthday and we were going to trentham Gardens in Staffordshire. That summer there was an elvis film on every day, and on 16th August every year since then I have always held my own elvis memory day, wearing elvis badges, listening to elvis records, watching films and reading my elvis books. he is sadly missed. thank you for helping to keep his memory alive. TCB.

Just got out of a movie (I was 13) and was riding home in the back seat of my best friends car -- her mom was driving.
Funny how I just remembered that. Hadn't thought of it in decades. I think the movie we had just seen was "Bad News Bears," but I checked and it came out in 1976 not 1977 so my memory may not be all that I thought it was! LOL
