Better than a capitalistic democracy? What are you suggesting? We all become communists or make someone a dictator? Perhaps a return to the caste system is more your taste?

Our system of government is not without flaws, but it is the most stable and scalable in the world, while providing the most opportunity for those who work hard and choose to take advantage of the freedoms and privileges that it offers.

The basic framework has been copied in many countries, because it works.

If you have a better idea, get into politics and change the government. The tools and means are all there.

In a way. But only in that the Government needs to be rolled back to it's Constitutional Restrictions. Read the First 3 Articles of the Constitution, they limit Governmental Power, unfortunately We the People, forgot that it was our responsibility to keep the government small.

We have the best Constitution ever written.

Edit: We are not a Democracy, we are a Republic. A Democracy would never, ever work.

Our Constitution has been obliterated by the current administration. Thankfully, there was a safe guard in the Constitution that pretty much said, any laws passed against the Constitution was to be considered null and void.

The Bush administration has also eroded our Bill of Rights too, but from what I understand the same thing is true.

Our president and vice swore and oath to protect it and they have committed Treason by not.

We just need to get back the government we had prior to the introduction of the Fed with is not federal but owned by private bankers.

Ron Paul is the only hope in restoring our government to what it once was.

Governments are powerful, they will always be controlled by those that want power. Money is power, influence is power, that will never change, and so long as it stays the same, any government established in this country is going to migrate towards what it is today.

I say we just keep what we have, it's not the best but it does work.

My advice:

Go live in some other countries for a while and come back and ask that question again.

Our government system can work...it just needs to be fine tuned. Representives need to be just that....represent what the majority of the people (not corporations) want.

Problems with the American government and structure..

Firstly the federal reserve system is asinine and corrupt. It just leads to perpetual debt, and makes a select few very very wealthy.

The two party system.

Presidential Veto. Ie the ability to bypass congress, those who were elected by the people, and the ones that represent the people.

The Electoral college.

There are a few point, however those main ones lead to enough corruption i government.

The system is in dire need of an overhaul.

I have to agree with Winston Churchill when he said that "democracy is the worst form of Government except all those other forms that have been tried from time to time." It is true that democratic forms of government are inefficient and often undignified. On the other hand, no other form of government protects the freedoms of its citizens nearly as well.

The government we have now is not the same of the founding fathers. This is where our problems are at, for example, there was no direct election of senators in the original version. The states had representation in the state by the state legislatures electing two senators (no state representation than you have the federal government ballooning to the size it is today).
This with other problems like not inviting third parties to debates or making it easier for them to get on the ballot has caused the problems we see today in America.

Changing your government will not make things much better since it is run by lobbyists of the big corporations, regardless of which party is in power.

The biggest flaw with the government of the United States is the degree to which money influences the decision-making process. The love of money is indeed the root of all evil, and we have created an electoral system that allows those with the most money to have the greatest voice and to dominate the process. It is destroying our government.
