I just need to know because if i choose to upgrade in the future.

YES of course but it will not run anything that requires DX10 support (still few). BUT DX10 cards are now cheap; from 8400GS to 8600GT. And you can tweak them some more (overclock).

Only if the card has Vista drivers, note there is already Direct X 10 so you are behind on the times! So you should buy a Direct X 10 card (you won't be able to play Vista only games if you don't buy a Direct X 10 card that supports Vista).

If you have the money, get a directx 10 card. They will always be better. I think directx 9 will work, but it won't perform as good.

Not necessarily. Make sure that the manufacturer says that it is compatible with Vista.
