I find that life is stranger than fiction. Pick up a newspaper and read some of the interesting things that happen to real people and use these situations as plots you can build upon for a story of your own. I write coming of age fiction and that's pretty much my passion. I like to write stories about young adults who have reached a fork in the road and how the decisions they make teaches them lessons about life.

I can give you tips on what YOU should do. Daydream a story first. If it holds your interest, it might be worth writing.

1. Know who your main character is.
2. Know who the foil is (someone for your main character to share ideas with)
3. Know what happens to the main character and how it will affect him/her.
4. Throw in some obstacles to keep the story from becoming too easy.

The hardest part is actually getting your butt in the chair and writing. It takes discipline and there are too many distractions these days. I've had to resort to getting up an hour earlier to find writing time. Now if I could just remember to go to bed an hour earlier....

The Peasants revolt of 1381.
I.ve always wanted to write both a book or a play about this event and I have researched it deeply. It would also make a very good musical and I could write the story but the lyrics and music
are certainly outside my abilities. Perhaps one day?

The Greatest Mystery Ever Told by Skip Holden. Introduction by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle sent through time to honor the greatest mystery EVER told. I cannot tell you what the book will be about because I don't want to give it away. OK I will tell you it involves an escaped radioactive chimp but that is it.
