F Chord - XX3211
Use your first finger (pointer) to hold down the first and second string (first fret). Use your second finger (middle) to hold down the third string (second fret). Use your third finger (ring) to hold down the forth string (third fret).

Use your pointer finger (index finger) to hold the first and second strings down at the same time. This is called a "barre". You can also put this finger all the way across in an "orchestral" chord form, which can then be moved up the frets - learn one chord formation, and you have learned 11 chords!

James got the simple version right, WarriorHeartDrummer got the standard one reversed. If you learn the standard one, you then have most barre chords...
How do you hold it? I use my pointy for the barre, my middle for the second fret g string, and my ring and pinky for the third fret a and d strings.

Hold the f chord?

Depends if you mean barred or open, either way theres no holding involved..unless you mean keeping your fingers on the fretboard and pressing strings down?

This is a F Major chord in basic tab form. It's on the 1st fret.
Good luck
