A family friend called from DC and we were talking about Karl Rove leaving the White House, and he said that there are rumors that he is to join Fred Thompson's Team.

Any Comments.

I've heard it speculated on the radio, but I don't think the Thompson campaign has confirmed it.

So far- rumor. Rove stated he was not looking to get involved in any presidential campaign at this time.
In any event, there is still speculation as to whether or not Fred Thompson is even going to jump in. If there is no announcement by Labor Day, I say, there is no chance he will get in after that. As it stands it would mean non stop campaigning and he could not afford to make 1 mistake at all, he would have no recovery time to speak of and with every state reshuffling their primaries, it will be tough

It could be either. Fred Thompson doesn't have much of a chance to win the general election and if word gets out that Rove is on the team, then his chances will get even slimmer.

God I hope not. I am a Thompson supporter, joining up with Rove would be political suicide. I believe Thompson is a lot smarter than that.

I don't think Thompson would want Rove...Why give Gerry Trudeau a year to slam him in Doonesbury (which the Libs read and believe like it was holy writ)?

Thompson should stick to acting, not that he is any great actor. Maybe he can be a spokesperson for Jenny Craig

I wouldn't think so. That would be political suicide.
