I play monopoly with my friends and family in a different way because the original rules are agravating to us. If we land on a property we don't have to auction it off we either buy or don't. If we land on our own properties we get the option to buy more houses for it (or hotels) or simply nothin. And to get out of jail all the same rules apply except its a 3 turn wait or u can bail out or not.

That's how i play too...guess I never read all the instructions before. I say play it anyway that makes it fun for you!

Same here. Guess I've never really read the rules if those arent it lol

We also put an extra $500 under the board for free parking, along with adding all the fees and things from the cards (community chest & chance) and the luxury tax, and call it the "pot" jus to make things more interesting.

I also play that way. I think bending the rules of a game to suit the players is perfectly fine. It's not like the Monopoly police are going to arrest you or anything!!

Anything to speed it up - I loved playing it when younger, but I don't have time for marathon monopoly sessions anymore.
