How do Republicans square that their leadership knew what a quagmire Iraq would be? In what way was this good for our country?

See the link below for a video interview with Cheney from 1994 -- he spells out all the reasons NOT to invade Iraq after the first Gulf War.

Excerpt:
DICK: "...If we'd gone into Baghdad we would have been all alone, there wouldn't have been anybody else with us. It would have been a US occupation of Iraq, none of the Arab forces that were willing to fight with us in Kuwait were willing to invade Iraq."

"Once you got to Iraq and took it over, and took down Saddam Hussein's government, then what are you gonna put in its place? That's a very volatile part of the world, and if you take down the central government of Iraq you can easily end up seeing pieces of Iraq fly off."

I wish I could have recorded this on the Daily Show last night. I don't usually watch it, but it was on the channel when I went to bed. I got back up to do more research, I didn't know he ever said anything like this before. What happened between 1994 and 2002-3? Don't even try to say 911, the facts still remained as he saw them, then turned around and said it would be done in weeks and they would welcome us with open arms.

I love it when people that have no solutions and walk along on a leash being a puppet for any politician state drivel like this.

It's a pity American politics can't be held to a higher standard but with the internet people that in the past were just dimwitted can now spout ridiculous drivel. And now they know everything be it conservative or liberal. Of course the really bad thing is that liberals in this country don't have ideas just thoughts about the government taking care of them.

I don't care how the conservatives want to gloss over this, he did say it. I heard it several times on the news channels last nite. I do not care where the source came from, the FACT is that he did say this.

I assume he sleeps quite well - he doesn't let simple-minded criticism get him down.

He sleeps because he has no conscience. He would have to have one for it to bother or weigh on him thus keeping him up at night. Since he does not have one, he sleeps like a baby
