Yes, and they are less expensive too. Keep in mind they most always will be "wet" and when wood dries out it will tend to twist and warp. What I do is plan ahead a few months and clamp boards together and let dry, they dry straight. Also keep in mind that treated wood has a chemical irritant, so use gloves!~ those splinters can be horrible! Also...doesn't make for a very nice finished surface...good luck with your project

Yes. They do sell untreated 4 by 4's. But even if it is interior I would still use the treated. I frame houses for a living and have never used untreated due to they warp worse than treated.

I would never use treated 4x4 for interior use, especially if the wood will be exposed. Treated lumber has all those puncture marks from the treating and is not visually appealing. There is no need to use treated for interior work or much exterior work. Treated is necessary where the lumber is in close proximity to the ground or can not be painted/stained and maintained.

Yes you can... though when I needed a bunch, I had to have them order them for me.
Our local supplier deals almost exclusively with ranchers (including us) who use them as fence-posts and shed-posts.
My Brother and I used them in building a post-timber barn / garage (along with a ton of 6x6 and 6x8). We used all Douglas Fir, and did NOT treat it in any fashion... though in his wood-shop area, his wife sanded and waxed them... it looks wonderful.

Yes they do, if your home supply store doesn't have them I know your smaller independent lumber suppliers should have them, or can order them for you.
