Ok I*m asking this Question on Behalf of my mother. My Step Bro is 18 and Well as any typical 18yr He downloads Porn. My mom knows he does it and doesnt care if hes Discreat about it. Only thing is he Downloads porn from File shairing Sites and Now she Get ad pop up all the time for Porn sites. She has 2 other Kids in the house that are 14 and she doesnt want them seeing stuff like that, along with herself!
they have Had to get their computers Hard Drive cleaned 4 times in the past 2 years cause there computer was infected with Virus and Trojan files. She added another user just for the 18yr with his own Password but that doesnt help either!
so my question is, Is there a Blocker that will block Adult sites but still let Instant Messanger and Myspace run? shes fine with Myspace But is just so Tired of Porn. and No Turing the Virus scan filter doesnt work. he just turns it back down!!!
Any help or info???

How about she stops him from downloading? Obviously the problem is he isn't careful about what he downloads and he endangers their personal data and computer. A program that might block this stuff will be just a cover-up, but it won't fix the problem, which is his downloads.

Any blockers she could use have to be properly configured and will be easily bypassed by most kids, much less an 18 year old.
I have a better suggestion - no unsupervised computer usage for your brother. If he continues to do so, password him out of all users on the computer for a period of time or tell him to buy his own.

Well its very simple. Simply create a limited user account for your bro and turn on the blocking software and modify the settings in internet explorer, all from the administrator account to block all such porn websites. Internet Explorer wont let him browse any porn and the limited account wont let him turn off the blocker.

If the computer is getting riddled with pr0n pop-ups and viruses, then your stepbrother **isn't** being discreet. Your mom needs to just boot him off of the computer, plain and simple. Let him save up for his own machine and secure it himself if he's going to insist on unsafe surfing like turning down the virus filter settings.
The biggest problem is that he's going to file-sharing sites, which are notorious for harboring all kinds of crapware which ride along with downloads and screw up computers. There's plenty of pr0n in the Internet "sea" without mucking around with sites like that.

Since he is 18 years old, tell him to get a job, save money, and buy his own computer; he could probably buy one as a "student" for a discount. After that, he may download to his heart's content and doesn't have to worry about being discrete.

get zonealarm...it will hopefully block out any viruses...its basically another layer of security...it blocks hackers and any other things that shouldnt come into a computer. and turning the virus filter up shouldnt have an effect on his "browsing techniques" as long as he doesnt visit a spyware/virus ridden site
