Wrigley field was the last stadium to put in lights of the older stadium era. So to keep up the tradition of their franchise they play mostly day games, especially in July and August.

As many noted, the Cubs were the last to put in lights. Since they are located right in the middle of a residential area, they have an agreement with the city that only allows for something like 20 night games. This is supposed to keep the noise, traffice, vandalism down.

For many years, there were no lights at Wrigley Field. So all of their games were played during the day. The lights were added several years ago. The Cubs are popular enough that they get big crowds for day games. The ball park is in a mostly-residential neighborhood. There are lots of reasons for playing day games.

Because of the idiots who live by there. Over 95% of the area residents did not live there when lights were put in. So those who live there knew what they were moving into to. But they put up a stink about night games being too loud, and too much traffic. So the city has limited the amount of night games. Then, the Cubs lowered the amount of night games themselves to allow the Police to perform there for two days! So they gave away night games to make money!

The Cubs used to play only day games in Wrigley's because they didn't have lights. I also think it has something to do with the time zone they're in.

It's been a tradition for years. Before they finally put lights there Wrigley Field was the only stadium that didn't have lights long after every other stadium had them so they played every home game a day game.

It's tradition. They were the last team to get lights installed. Playing day games also holds a homefield advantage to them. They can put the pressure on the rest of the division later on that evening if they know the Cubbies won. It also makes their opponents change the way they approach their games.

I believe it has something to do with how late lights were put in for night games (in the 80s?). They were, if I remember right, the last team to do so. The previous owner didn't like the idea of night games.
I would imagine it's a holdover from that time.

Because they play at Wrigley Field and they have always played day games there and they hardly ever play night games there. Other than tradition I don't know a specific reason.
