Nobody in their right mind would leave a child alone like that. There is a reason hotels have baby sitting services if you must leave them. But surely that is not the idea of a family holiday. your kids should be with you. How many times had they been left before that night for such an oppertunist to take that chance.
I belive that there should be a major investication and social services now need to be part of their lives untill the remaining children have grown up. But as for prison no they will suffer for this always.

I don't know about putting them in prison but they should definitely be investigated fully and if need be put on trial. The relevant authorities should also investigate whether they are fit to bring up the twins. You do not leave three children under 4 alone, not once, but every night while you go out enjoying yourselves. There was a baby sitting service available but they did not use it. They say they did not use it because they did not think something like this would happen. Very convenient! They still do not think they did anything wrong. I am extremely suspicious about the McCanns and the more I see and hear about them I am convinced they had something to do with their daughter's disappearance. I hope I am wrong.

This is a very tricky question indeed. If, as has been alleged, a body was lying in the McCanns apartment (the minimum time allowed for a sniffer dog to 'point') then one must ask how on earth did all these doctors miss a dead body. The answer is most likely that they either did no checks all evening or they just listened outside doors. All those children were too young to be subjected to such a check. It should have been a physical one because one of the children was only 1 yr old.

Absolutely not, they just had poor judjment and how can anyone for sure know what they did?we do not know how close their apartment was to where they were or anything about it.Why are people so quick to castigate them, its the person who took them who is to blame!!!We should be able to bring our children up in a world where we dont live in constant fear of paeodophiles.Ok they were very young children but where exactly do you draw the line at what is neglect??They didnt beat her, or starve her for goodness sake! Its the fault of the judicial system, they should put people away for life, then we wouldnt all live in fear for our children. You are punishing the wrong people.Thats what is wrong with the world, its the same as saying if a woman wears a short skirt she deserves to be raped etc

do no longer you think of it unusual that fogeys could bypass away a three 3 hundred and sixty 5 days previous by myself? at first, that could be the stupidest concern you may desire to do. What reliable, first rate and worrying father and mom could try this style of outrage? the completed tale seems so lively, as though this is been made up. each and every time I observed the father and mom on t.v it looked as though they weren't that disillusioned. many times father and mom in this place could be honestly frantic and devastated, the place Maddies father and mom looked notably subdued. they might desire to have had something to do with it, and at some point the fact will pop out, then what is going to all you doubters might desire to assert?

The answer may depend on the outcome and a court of law would need to decide.

What worse punishment could there be than loosing a child and knowing that somehow you are responsible? How will they be treated back home? You can even see on here how the topic has evoked really passionate responses for and against. They will have to live with that for life. Imagine having to explain to family members and siblings what and why happened

Guilty or innocent they are going through hell and it is not going to get easier for a long time

Of course not. The only people responsible for what happened are those who abducted her. Where is the critisism of the abductors? No-where - people seem to want to target the parents of the child who was kidnapped. Where is the compassion in society? My heart felt best wishes are with the McCanns. They have enough to cope with already without having to deal with hurtful, mob mentality comments.

No. For two reasons. People are imprisoned as punishment or to teach them a lesson. Neither applies in this case - no punishment is worse than what they are going through. And I think the whole world has learned the awful lesson they've all endured - and will endure for the rest of their lives.

no... but there should be some sort of example made out of them so that people can't think it is right to go out and leave your children alone.and i know the pro's and anti's have different opinions on the mccanns but one thing i think is middle ground is the neglect factor of this case.If it goes unoticed in this instance, will it then be 'ok for everyone else to do it because the mccanns did' i don't think anyone wants that to happen

Yes, if it is proved they and broke the law. I personally believe they are very bad role models as medical professionals for young couples all over the world. They should not have left three small children unattended for any length of time, never mind night after night while they had dinner with friends.

When you have children you also have a responsibilty to protect them and keep them safe. This means full time adult supervision, they didn't provide it. They appear to have enough money for their needs and holidays so there was no excuse in my opinion to skimp on childcare to give themselves time alone.

They need to face whatever consequences are coming their way, if this means imprisonment - so be it.
