Hi! I'm American. I like Canadians -- they're diverse. I've been to Montreal two times in my life. The first time, I loved it. The second time I went there were problems concerning the language: French or English. I do not speak French (I wish I knew more at that time). Some (not all) people were extremely rude and pretended not to know English; so they only spoke French to you. I would just politely excuse myself and go to a different business or retailer, etc. I did not enjoy being in the middle of that. There were school children who would try to talk to me in English and their parents would make them speak French. I still like and respect Canadians and their diverse country. Best wishes!

I like them very much indeed (those I have met. I am not going to get into the Yanks are nicer than the Canadians discussion because the Yanks I have met in their own country are also helpful and kind very often when least expected.

I lived in Canada for 6 months and met some of the nicest people ever. I wonder what it was you were expecting of them, did you think they were like the Americans, just because they speak the same language and share a border doesn't mean they're the same, just look at the Austrians and Germans - very different.

Many british live in Canada and yes we were a colony of the British unlike the states ...point your making ??
Anyways Canadians do have a reputation of being polite all over the world, their acceptting of many cultures due to diversity.
Okay I admit French Canadians are a little more controversial ! But I won't go into that ..lol
Many canadians respect the British because it is part of our past /history .

Well, I'm not British, I'm American. I have had nothing but great times with Canadians! I love their music, hockey, and beer. I used to live right by the Canadian border, and some of my fondest memories of living in Buffalo, Ny, were going to Canada with my friends. The people up there are friendly, and treat everybody they meet with respect. I cannot say enough about them! I highly recommend you go to Toronto if you ever get the chance!

I've met some pretty sexy French-Canadians boys.

They have the hottest accent. It's so cute when they struggle speaking English.
