Was the Balrog in Moria truly the last Balrog to of survived? Also was it explained how powerful the Balrog in Moria was compared to balrogs of the first age such as Gothmog?

There are not any hints in the Silmarillion or LOTR about comparative/force weakness of Balrogs in the First or Third Era. It might be correct to infer that, when they were led by Gothmog and backed by Morgoth, they were more powerful.

I suggest reading the Middle Earth Encyclopedias. They have information on everything. Balrogs weren't really mentioned in LOTR, other than the one that attacked the fellowship in Moria. Hope this helps!!

Balrogs were not really discussed in the trilogy. Most of the info is in The Simarillon (I spelled that wrong).
