I believe he belongs in jail. What an idiot. He not only destroyed his already old baseball career, but his life. Because these players will come at him with a lawsuit and take all his money...which he deserves to lose. Who cares about his kids and whatever. Offerman deserves everything he had taken away from him

No question, he messed up. You just can't swing a bat at someone.

A few years ago in the NHL, Marty McSorely hit Donald Brashere over the head with his hockey stick and everyone said that he will never play again and that he would end up going to jail. I know that he served a suspension in the NHL but i'm not sure if he ever did a day in jail. I think that he only recieved probation and or very little jail time. Offerman is a little different situation but still a professional athelete. That being said I don't think he will end up in the clink because atheletes as wrong as this is, don't recieve jail sentences like the rest of the regular civilians. Did Mike Tyson go to jail for eating Holyfields ear? Is Rick Tocchet is jail right now for having a gambling ring inside professional sports? Did Kenny Rogers have to go to prison for hitting a camera man and breaking his camera?

I am agreeing with you, I say lock these idiots up. If they can't figure out how lucky, talented, and blessed they are to be playing a profesional for a wealthy living then it would be great if the justice system would maybe tune them in a little bit. With the exception of the NFL most atheletes seem to slip through the loop hole of doing hard time. I really think that the person who said money makes the world go round was probably a victim of an attack that the perp walked away from because he had money.

I think he sould pay the consiquences the same as I would if I hit you with a bat. Unfortunatley I do not think it will work out that way. I see a 1 year suspension and loads of fines, along with your usual community service (which can be served signing autographs) which is a joke, and probation.

He deserves to be banned that is for sure, he will go to jail...I am not sure how litigation would play out though...I think that the catcher has more of a case than the pitcher. The pitcher could be found liable for intentionally plunking him. That being said what kind of moron does it take to take a bat to the mound with you!
