I'm trying to get two monitors rollin' on my dimension E3100 and Dell support told me I needed a PCI-E x1 video card. When I search for this on ebay I'm getting all sorts of stuff; motherboards, computers, etc., and I just need the card! Do I basically just need a dual PCI card?

Thanks everybody....maybe I should have included something, I'm not a gamer, and I'd be using this mainly for browsing the web and watching an occasional movie/show, and having the best of the best picture isn't #1 on my list. So the simpler/cheaper, the better.

PCI-E x1 is the type of video card slot your machine has on its motherboard (assuming Dell told you correctly based on the exact model you have).
You may already have a card in the slot unless the motherboard has both onboard video and a slot.
What they are telling you to do is pull out the existing card (if there is one) and replace it with a card that will a) plug into the same slot and work, and b) have the ability to plug two monitors into it.
Just go to a website like www.newegg.com or www.tigerdirect.com.
Look up video cards - find one that says it is PCI-E x1 and has support for dual monitors and you will be set. If you still can't figure it out - go to a computer store and ask them to select one (then you can either buy it from them, or go search online for a better deal on the same card).

PCI-E is the new graphics card slot on the motherboard (replacing AGP). What you'll want is a card that can support dual output. I've included a link to NewEgg.com's PCI-E x1 offerings.
The second link is to PriceWatch (they show a lot of vendors pricing so you can find a good deal on parts). Note that the results are probably more confusing if you are not a PC component guru.

a PCI-E or PCI-Express is the type of connector on your card. Dual PCI is something completely different!
If you want a good allround card look for an XFX Fatal1ty with at least 256mb if you want to use it for games.
Be warned that some cards state they 'support' 256mb but they take it from your systems main memory which will cause windows and applications to slow down.
You will probably want to browse rather than search, it will help you find things easier =)

You need a video card that has two video outputs. You can find them in the video section of your local computer store. I would buy it there because you can easily return it if it doesn't work. It's not really worth the money you save if you get stuck with a card that does not work or won't work with your system when you buy it online or from ebay.

pci-e x1 is a small slot, its usually right next to the normal pci express slot
