Take some rehydraytion salts to mix with water - saves having to drink gallons on a flight and keep having to go the loo. Try to move around as much as you can though as this helps. Flight socks can stop ankles swelling, if I didn't wear them I would look like elephant woman.

Drink more water - cut back on salt immediately and drink plenty of water, at least eight glasses a day, to help flush out the salt

Watch out for MSG as it also contains sodium. MSG is found in lots more than Chinese food; it's a common ingredient in processed foods. Read your labels for "MSG" or "hydrolyzed vegetable protein," which contains MSG, and avoid these foods as much as possible.

Alcohol does act as a diuretic at first, making you lose excess water. But this loss of fluid can progress to the point of dehydration. And medical experts have another good reason for giving this advice: Alcohol depletes your body of important vitamins and minerals, so avoid it!

Several herbal teas have a mildly diuretic effect. Parsley tea is the best-known type. Brew two teaspoons of dried leaves per cup of boiling water and steep for ten minutes. Drink up to three cups a day.

Have a good holiday!

Drink plenty of water and reduce your salt intake. these are natural remedies that wont hurt you.

Artichoke is good for water retention but check with your Dr first. You dont want to ruin a holiday just because someone suggested you try something. We are all different and what was good for me may not be good for you.

Drink more water. Usually people think that water retention is caused by too much water, but it's actually the other way round.
