I have done the same survey, with basically the same answer. I did get bumped, not shut down. I made a political remark someone disagreed with, and my answer was removed. I explained that my answer was meant in jest, and I feel like this person was over-reacting.
BTW, I do pay for the Yahoo services. Music-Match Jukebox, now Yahoo Music. I have been with Yahoo, since 1996. When I mentioned that I would not renew my subscriptions if this sort of harassment did not stop, they gave me back my points, albeit without re-posting the answer. That was something of a hollow victory.
It does tell me, money talks. I also told them I did not like Yahoo Music Jukebox as well as I like Music Match Jukebox.
To Y!A credit, I have seen very inflammatory remarks, and questions removed. That was done for a good reason, That makes me think they are getting less arbitrary with their decision making process.
This statement was designed to illicit responses from folks who have had trouble. That in itself, can be a question. From what I see here, people recognize that. Just because a sentence does not end with a question mark, does not mean there was no question implied.

well i got a violation notice today because dave s asked what would happen if he went to praia da luz and i said he'd probably get a smack in the mouth !! the thing is i doubt if if it was dave who reported the 'abuse' because he knows i was only joking and would take it on the chin even if i meant it. if it didn't offend dave why would someone else report it, it's just stupid and shows what the level of intelligence of some ppl on this site is, when god asked if they wanted brains they thought he said trains so they asked for a slow one !!! this reporting thing gets out of hand, good luck and thanks xx

It's a good thing isn't it? Several of us have this email, which is part of a survey, so perhaps they will listen to what we say!

'lo JLo - Good idea J! I got a Violation this morning for a question that was about two months old. I replied to Yahoo and told them what I thought about that (nicely, of course) but also explained that everyone was sick of receiving violations for questions which had been resolved ages ago. I also said that we were fed up being abused by trolls and that the amount of filth that was being posted was a disgrace. Suggested that it would be a good idea for Yahoo to have Moderators on site.
EDIT: Soccer Mom: JLo is trying to be of help to the community - unlike you with your put-downs. If she wants to chat with friends she uses IM. That OK for you?

Excellent idea hun, well done. If there is a petition sign me up! I've just written a long answer on the virtues of reasoned intelligent debate if you disagree with someone, not just hurling abuse and blocking them, on another question, so I won't repeat it here but I think you know what I mean. Again, really good point.

it's a survey e-mail isn't it? I had one last night and I've only been here two weeks, they send them randomly to users apparently, and they probably won't do anything about the suggestions we give. I told them there's too much bullying and harrassing of other users on here, sme of the posts are disgraceful and this section of the board seems to be overrun by trolls and in the hands of maybe four or five users.
I bet you 50p they take no notice of anything any of us say

Well done
I emailed them to ask why they violate me for no other reason than someone taking a dislike to me (not even my answer) I am hoping like Jack they will remove violations that I got for nothing and give me back my points.
I think it is only fair we get to put our side across, I am still angry that it was posted on here that I had harassed (including by email) another YA user. I cannot email anyone cos I don't allow emails myself yet yahoo allowed this question to a) be posted and b) remain after I requested they remove it as it contained lies about me and my conduct on YA.
Its like they just read it and violate with no investigation at all.
I have had answers deleted that did not breach guidelines and have asked them to investigate those.
You can see the people who get grief on here by counting the thumbs down they get for neutral answers, its like someone actually spends the time following you around to do that.
Thumbs down is a minor but the violations and suspended accounts can be very annoying.
