Worked 6 years as caseworker (Food Stamps, TANF, Medicaid) for State of TX - had an applicant who's youngest child was named Insatiable. I thought maybe it had some weird pronunciation, but pronounced just like in the dictionary and porn movies. That kid's going to grow up and kill her.

Maybe the mama was on crack when she gave birth. (Believe me, I have taught in a school where that is very common...). So many of the kids with the weird names come from homes with little education. The parents don't realize that these kids are going to grow up someday and might want to have a professional name and a professional job... They are just thinking about themselves and not rationalizing the type of stigma that will be placed on their children if they have very strange names.

(Now again, I am not talking about ethnic or cultural names here... I am referring to parents that name their boy
"Espin" after "ESPN" or "Oranjecia" after their favorite "Orange Jello.") Yikes!
