Hi,
We'd like to call our daughter Lula.
Some people told us that it sounds like "going to the loo"...
What do you think?

Here in the states, we don't generally call the restroom the "loo" so I don't see that being an issue here. I think Lula's a very cute name actually. It's not common at all and very different. Or something similar would be Layla.

It's YOUR child, and if you like Lula, then you can name your child whatever you wish...but...I think people need to also consider how well the first name blends with the middle, and especially the last name. I've heard many names at my son's school that have made me wonder what the parents were thinking because they were either very choppy sounding, or almost a tongue twister.
My suggestion is to say your daughers FULL name out loud. If it flows easily, and sounds good, then go for it. But don't be surprised if people ask you what her real name is, because they might be assuming that Lula is a nickname for Tahlula.
Oh, and to the poster that thought of "Little LuLu"...I did too!!

At my house we go to the bathroom so loo never crossed my mind. I like Lula I think it's very cute.

Yeah, Lula is a bit weird. I personally wouldn't do it. It sort of sounds slang for something or more like a pet name for Louise.
Leila (leer-lah) or Layla sounds better

If you like it call her Lula, my grandson is called Luca some people think that's a bit weired too. But its cute.

Yah i guess.Mysisters nickname is Lula. maybe name her Lucia or somethin wha Lula as a nickname

I like lula and Talula it's pretty and not too common. I didn't think anything off putting when I heard it.

Your Kid might feel ashamed of it when she is older. She might get teased but you never know. It sortof sounds like the word for sexy girl (Lola) in spanish if it makes you feel better! :) :) Hope your happy with this answer !!
But you've got to admit that it is a pretty darn cute name!!
