The San Francisco city government is attacking talk show Michael Savage as a racist regarding his opposition to illegal immigration. Only one member of the board of supervisors voted to block Mr. Savage from being condemmed.

The same board of supervisors commended Hugo Chavez for his democratic reforms for his communist take over of Venezuela. See the document at http://www.savage-productions.com/vote4chavez.html

Why do democrats in San Fransicko support Hugo Chavez and his communist take over of Venezuela, but they do not allow a talk show host to speak his mind about people moving to this country illegally?

Is freedom of speech only free to democrats when it is politically correct? Why can't this person speak his mind without fear of reprisal from the government? Will a lawsuit be the only way to test this illegal activity by the democrats in San Fransicko?

Kukoo you must be smoking your Bananas. Socialism and Communism are basically the same thing. Go ask the people in East Germany who were under a socialist, I mean communist regime, when the Berlin wall fell.

Secondly, what did he say that was hate speech? He said that if you are illegal in this country, you need to go home to where you game from. How is that hate speech?

Liberals love Americ… There is nothing wrong with Mr. Savage telling the people who are protesting the fact that they want a free green card by going on a fast to go ahead and starve. This little ploy by this group is just a publicity stunt and you are falling for it.

Liberals love America... The illegal immigration group and the board of govenors have gone as far to publish is home address and telephone number on the internet. You do not think that is an invasion of privacy? Also I realize that Michael Savage is a radio name. Just like our fellow friends on TV don't use their real names as well.

I don't see anything wrong with him saying let the "illegals who are protesting starve to death." In reality you and I know this is a publicity stunt by the illegal group sponsoring this protest, so get a grip on reality.

Freedom of speech also includes the right to offend. However what he said is not racist, just the truth and people don't want to hear it. If you don't like what the guy has to say, don't listen to him. That is the beauty of the radio. One button and it is gone away.

Whoever the guy was who voted against the majority on that one, I say give him a freaking medal! Free speech is free speech, no exceptions. We don't need another Don Imus BS scandal. I don't care.

I think Michael Weiner "Savage" is a nut and an idiot, especially with his little comment on the students going on a fast for immigration, (Something about letting them starve...) but he has the right to free speech, period; of course, we have the right to disagree as well :)

But here's the problem with that little analysis of yours concerning Chavez and San Fran's praise of him. The resolution praising him was done in 2002, not too many people predicted he would turn into a fascist nut. (Look at the sources to see what he;s trying to do right now.) I don't think many of us had any idea what Chavez was going to do.

EDIT: You really don't think that was a little over the line of him, to tell students to let them starve themselves to death, whether or not you agree with their principles? C'mon! I am very against illegal immigration, but I'm not going to tell people "Hey you can starve yourselves for all I care!" I mean, these were his exact words:
"I would say, let them fast until they starve to death; then that solves the problem...You stole the education from us...now go build a bomb where you're from."

BTW, more on the story, apparently Weiner thinks they're trying to threaten legal action against him! An interesting quote:

This schmuck says my comments are "symbolic of hatred and racism." And they want the City to sue me for "symbolism." There is no basis in American Law for such a suit but the larger point is the astonishing hate speech this putz is engaging in. To stop OPINION by threatening legal action is akin to using the power of the State to control thought and speech.

http://www.savage-productions.com/illiberalism_is_a_mental_disorder.html

Funny how the resolution to condemn his remarks never contained anything about suing him, but w/e lol...

Hmmm, he thinks they're trying to silence him, delusional; oh, and he thinks liberalism is a mental disorder lol.

EDIT: The Sequel:

"The illegal immigration group and the board of govenors have gone as far to publish is home address and telephone number on the internet. You do not think that is an invasion of privacy? "

-They did? Link? If this true then these people seriously need help, who gives a crap what this guy says. He's a radio talk show host, they're a dime a dozen! I don't like what he says a lot of the time, but it seriously isn't that big of a deal. And if they did, unless he has made his address and home # public, yes that is an invasion of privacy!

"I don't see anything wrong with him saying let the "illegals who are protesting starve to death." In reality you and I know this is a publicity stunt by the illegal group sponsoring this protest, so get a grip on reality."

-Yea, protests are nothing but publicity stunts meant to gain fame rather than to work for change. Go tell that to Ghandi and MLK. BTW, who is sponsoring the students protest? You're telling me to get a grip on reality when you think what he said was absolutely fine? Ok....

"Freedom of speech also includes the right to offend. However what he said is not racist, just the truth and people don't want to hear it. If you don't like what the guy has to say, don't listen to him."

-And I agree with you, free speech is free speech, period. He didn't say anything racist, he said something I didn't agree with, that's all and I have the right to express that disagreement, as you have the right to disagree with my disagreements. When he said told a gay man who called in his now defunct MSNBC show that "I hope you get AIDS and die.", I disagreed with that. Also I don't think that protesting students starving to death conveys some sort of "truth".

Again, I'm on your side! This Sandoval guy is a nut, he thinks the U.S. should have no military! We may have a few difference of opinion concerning the nuances of the situation, but we both believe that Savage absolutely has the right to his opinion and that the San Fran people are blowing this way out proportion!

Chavez isn't an American citizen, and 'democrats' in San Francisco don't 'support' him. Maybe some do, but using an ad populum argument just muddies the water. Savage's 'right to speak' isn't being questioned...his content is, two different things. In an attempt to swing the conversation from the content of his speech to the strawman of attempting to silence him completely, you undermine your entire argument. Nobody has said Savage can't speak his mind, but then nobody has said that the people of San Francisco through their elected representatives can't speak theirs. True? Actually, we really don't know much about Venezuela, it's history or the various players that have brought that country to where it is today. If the people of that country want to try being a second kind of stupid it's their choice. So far they've had the king of Spain, various corrupt dictators of the right, military rule and an occasional weak democracy that put the rich landowners in charge of everything worth being in charge of. None of these thugocracies have served the 90% of the people there very well. So, now they have Chavez....good luck! I've heard Savage...he's no different than Liddy, Hannity, O'Reily, LaVine, Limbough and the dozen's of other right wing screechers....they're on the air 24/7...their message of 'Conservatives good', everyone else bad is bound to get some pushback....or should all of those opposed to this right wing BS just shut up?

It is disconcerting when a government body tries to quell free speech. If the network that carries Mr. Savage or the advertisers had a problem and acted fine but government should stay out of it unless an actual law has been broken.

I am pretty confident that when the Founding Fathers of our country wrote the First Amendment declaring free speech, they did not have nude dancing, crucifixes in urine or people with dog collars chained around their necks being spanked on parade floats in mind. It is a pretty good guess that they were referring to political speech.

I hope the rest of America is paying attention to the fact that the liberals among us insist on equating illegal aliens with legal immigrants. Pay strict attention to how they frame the argument. It is very telling.

San Francisco is like a separate country these days. They have leaders that blatantly twist the laws to suit their own needs. I lost any respect for them when Mayor Newsom blatantly began issuing marriage licenses to gays. I have nothing against homosexuals but Newsom deliberately used his position for his own agenda to break the law.

Here is a link that proves how crazy SanFran liberals really are: www.zombietime.com
It is shocking how much they hate capitalism and the USA.

The city of San Francisco is home to many American communists who will only let their people speak their opinion. In San Francisco, I have seen many people in San Francisco openly wear Soviet Union shirts or Hugo Chavez shirts.

I don't care if anyone is gay... having said that, San Fransisco is everything wrong with the American way of life. The Government should suspend all funding until San Fransisco abides by all federal laws.
