let's face it.
1. Yes, we have democracy. But at the same time, US is also an empire who tries to control the whole world. We have military bases in Europe and Asia. We sent our troops to the battle fields in Korea, Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan. If this is not an empire, then what is it?
2. Every empire collapsed in the end, no matter how powerful it was. History does repeat itself.

Hold on to your hat and get out of debt as fast as you can. I don't think that the US will acctually crumble but the road ahead is going to be rockier than the Great Depression as globalization levels the playing field for the average worker.
Americans are going to have to relearn how to do for themselves like previous generations did.

Long after any of us...
The great thing about the US is that it adapts. As the world evolves and the global market brings the world together, the US remains at the forefront of most things, thereby securing itself it's legacy.
I'm sure a few hundred, maybe a thousand, years down the road, the US will only be a global state under the Earth Alliance or something out of Star Trek or something like that. Who knows, maybe aliens will try to take us over, and everybody will unite against them... Muslims, Jews and Christians all fighting side by side together...
But, I don't see the US crumbling...

No. Other countries crumbled because they were ruled by tyrants that were unfair to their people and other people around the globe, which usually lead to civil wars within the country that eventually lead it to collapse.
The United States is a unique country and was the first democratic country is recent times. The American people choose who their leader is, and no matter who you are in America, you can turn out to be anyone you want to be, unlike countries where who you are born to determines who you will be. Most people in America are happy with the country.
The US is the richest country in the world and we have some of the best financial people in the world running our financial system. It would take a lot for our economy to collapse.

We are due for a revolution. Who will lead the rebels to victory?
The usa is moving in the direction to be one big ole country with canada and mexico. If you don't believe this then look at how illegals are being allowed to come across the border and stay in this country and the new nafta superhighway.
It won't crumble unless you revolt!

When? is the question. We have sold our soul to China for toys, ignore the well being of our own people and allow our infrastructure to crumble, so the outcome seems inevitable.

No. The US is not an empire. We have the best country on the planet. We may not stay the best, but there will be no crumbling.

Yes, I do.
Our history is very much like that of the Roman Empire.
We are quickly nearing bankruptcy and our communities are not self sufficient. We buy our grain from China for crying out loud!
Nothing lasts forever.

Yes, think of it as a modern Rome, England, Greece. They all get very high and mighty then they 'go away'
