I've been accepted to graduate school in Atlanta. School starts in March and I plan to live off campus. How should I go about searching for an apartment out of state? Is now too soon to start looking? Is it possible to reserve a room now or does that depend on the landlord?

Thank you for help!

Sorry about the question. The question is 'How do I start searching for an apartment?'

College campuses often create their own real estate markets. This depends largely on the size of the school you will be attending and the size of the local market. If the market caters to the school, then they will be accustomed to student schedules and will be happy to accomodate you. If they do not, then you may have to wait until closer to March to reserve a place. I would recommend doing a search online and then calling several places. At some point you will have to go there and see the places but the more that you can narrow it down beforehand, the better.

Good luck.

You can find an Atlanta realtor on line that can help you with your apartment search. We did the same when we recently relocated to another State, first in the search for a home and also for an apartment until the home was built. The realtor we found was great. It's a little soon to start now for March but a realtor can help with the right time to begin. With most everything available to view online, you should be able to choose an apartment and have the paperwork faxed to you for credit checks and sign off. Good luck.

I would search craigslist, possibly look for a roomy. Atlanta is huge. You can always post on craigslist to find out about the areas close to your school. Congratulations on graduate school!!!

If you are in need of furnishings then check out freecycle, everything on there is free. You can always post for the things that you need to set up your apartment. Just remember to return the favor later on:~)

Check craigslist.org and also postaroo.com. Then do a search for an Atlanta newspaper online and search the classifieds.
