Hello. I had my last period on 17th June, which lasted for 7 days. I havent got my periods yet. I went for a pregnancy test today. It came positive. I am afraid, whether its true or not because, the strip manufacturing company says to hold the strip for 5 seconds in urine stream while I held it for 20 seconds ( I've forgotten it !! ). My second last period was on 27th april. It means my period cycle is quite long ( more than 50 days !! ) . I am very scared and not getting wat to do. I'm married and dont want child this much earlier. Please help me to know wat to do next ?

There is no such thing as a false positive. So you are pregnant if the test came back positive. The test (no matter how long you hold it in your stream) has detected the HCG hormone which is only produced when you are pregnant. To be absolutely positive get your doc to do a blood test which is like 99% accurate. Don't be scared, having a child is the most beautiful thing!! Enjoy this time and don't stress!

I'm not really sure what you mean. You are married? Test is positive? What do you mean that "you don't want this child this much earlier?"

This is great news in my opinion! A baby is exciting!! You should make an appointment to see your doctor and if he doesn't deal with pregnancy he will give you a referral to a OB/GYN. You really need to see a doctor to get checked out soon. It's not complicated at this stage of pregnancy but is more of a formality. The scarier stuff comes later!!

Your due date for LMP of 17th June would be 23 March 2008 and you would be nearly 9wks pregnant now.(8wks 4days or so) Just in case you were wondering that is!

Good luck, hope this helps

Hello. If the test results indicated a positive result then there is a high possibility that you might be pregnant. All I can advise you is that you go for the test again to clarify and this time be extra alert for the time slot adviced by the manufacturer. The only way you can be sure of pregnancy status is via a test not missed periods.

Honey, it does not matter how long you hold it in your urine stream, I was shaking when I held it in mine, and it turned out positive, if you are afraid of holding it in your urine stream, go in a plastic cup, stick the pregnancy test in the cup and you will get the same result!

If you are that concerned, I would recommend you making a doctor appointment, and talking to your doctor and telling her what you are telling us.

If you do not want a child this earlier, and you are scared and you do not know what to do, then you should think about options, I am pro-choice, lots of things happend to me when I had gotton pregnant, a few times, and I was on medications, that would hurt the fetus, really bad, and jeopardize the babies health, so I had to terminate the pregnancy with the help of my minister, my family and my doctor and my decision!

I know I am going to get a lot of negative responses from this, but the choice is yours, and only yours, you have to do what you feel is right for you and everyone elses opinion does not matter.

Talk to your husband, your doctor, your minister, and seek out every option, before you make your decision, but in the end you have to do what is best for you!

Your best bet you would be to retest. However, the first test would not have detected any amount of HCG in your urine if there were none in your body so you very well may be pregnant. Most times if a test is done wrong you may get a false negative but it is highly unlikely to get a false positive but it does happen.

Don't worry retest and everything does have a way of working out. Remember we plan and God unplans. But he wont throw things at you that you are not ready to handle even if you don't think so right now.

Good Luck!

I'm sure if the test came out positive , then you are pregnant!! Those tests are very accurate. I'm sure it doesn't make much of a difference whether you hold it there for 5 or 20 seconds. GOOD LUCk

Uh, you had your perioud almost 2 months ago! A positive line is a positive line, so that would be a yes... If you are married, it is most natural. Life knows when the time for a child is good for you. Nothing much you can do but go along with it, and tell the daddy.

Accept and enjoy God's blessing. Remember it isn't the child's fault that you are weak in birth control methods.
I can say with complete honesty that birth control doesn't always work. As my five will attest to.
I hope you don't need to be told that abortion is not birth control or what a joy this child will be in your life.
Just ask the usual question and do you best to raise them right.
Question: Is this the one?
God bless you and give you an uneventful pregnancy and birth.

Congratulations ! If you are married you both should be happy, and yes you may feel like it is to early a lot of couples do. Make a appointment to see your doc and if you want have him run a prego test. Also talk to your hubby and ask him how he would feel about having a child right now and see what he says if he says he doesnt want one right now then let him know whats happening.

The best thing to do is go see a doctor who will go through a test with you step by step so that you do it properly , once you get a decision then you can decide what to do next. Be calm and dont get too stressed until you know.
