Hi

I'm looking for a good, secure, Windows Vista compatible wireless router to buy. It must have WPA2 also.

I await your suggestions!

Thanks

A router is an Ethernet device. It's wireless broadcast are designed around a variety of specifications. Windows Vista has nothing to do with it. If you see a Vista Compatible tag; that doesn't mean that others won't work... it's just a marketing PLOY.

Get a LinkSys. If you visit a retail store like Staples, you can READ the box and look for the WPA2 listed on the box.

Consider this one:

LINKSYS WRT54G IEEE 802.3/3u, IEEE 802.11b/g Wireless-G Broadband Router - $49.99

Windows Vista is not an issue. Vista, XP, Win 2000 all will work properly with any solid pc. The operating system is not the issue.

There are a number of low end wireless routers made by D Link, Belkin, Netgear, and Linksys. Most of the new ones have WPA2 encryption BUT BE SURE TO CHECK this because many vendors will discount those not WPA2 equipped and will push them if they have any in stock.

All of the above are low end devices - and sell for under $100. I do not use any of them because I feel they are not well built and are low end devices.

3 Com offers a line of wireless routers. They cost more but perform better. I would suggest them for home use.

For business use or for solid home use, I suggest you look at a Sonic Wall or an Adtran or a Cisco device. They cost more but are designed for the job.

Any instant Router will do. all of them comprise common to setup classes and an setting up disc. Routers have compatibility with almost any networking device / pc. only each and every now and then the utility on the disc is constrained to homestead windows computers as an occasion (i'm confident the utility will consistently be Vista/7 comaptible for any router made interior the final 3 years or so). you additionally can configure the router manually out of your information superhighway browser, so regardless of if the utility does not artwork on your pc or in case you lose the CD, it is not proper. additionally, no utility setting up is mandatory on the different computers having access to your community, only plug-in or wirelessly connect and pass. i exploit a agency grade D-link router for my homestead community, yet Linksys is likewise an extremely respected variety (which i exploit aswell).
