What does it mean peace? For me means...be preapred for everything..Do you thinl that nowdays we have complete epace? It is violated with the''glove''as we say in my country, and human rights are violated day by day by civilised nations...
But lets take the question as it is posted...
I have the example of my country..A country which has suffered so much by a neighbour country, and i dont deny that by both aprts have been mistakes..The bloody past of both countries, has determinated also our private relations, and it is influencing us many times to be agressive, and without wanting it...
But a bloody past unfortunately can not change, and even if both countries want to forget it they cant and they cant live together...
The better future for me, is the distance, and the stable positions..Even the politicians can not find a solution, and the problems get bigger and bigger affecting the life of every citizen...
Unforunately, in this case there will not be solution. And just think, about so many nations which have differences with others.Did they ever find solutions to their problems?No...because some others dont want it, and because the fantoms of the past still exist....

England and Scotland had a bloody past behind them when they first became a United Kingdom. In fact, they had some bloodshed still ahead of them, because the Stuarts had followers north of the border for a long time after Jacobitism had run out of gas to the south of it.

Still, after 1745 the violence was put behind them, and that border has been fairly peaceful of late.

Peace depends on the timing.
Various circumstances affect peace between countries, especially if they had bloody past. There are a lot of historical examples for that.
Excellent soldier Leonarda, peace means to be prepeared for everything....Unfortunately, nowadays readiness for war is the only way, to have peace!

Every nation has a bloody past, England and America have fought but, although we are still rivals we are allies. I wouldn't say any of the nations have ever been friends but, we can always work together when push comes to shove.

as long as Israel keeps refusing the two state with Jerusalem shared(Israel is easily walling off Arab East Jerusalem from the West financial institution), to stop killing Arab Palestinians, and to stop stealing their land, there'll be no peace and in 2-3 years, the international pays for it with WW III-no person WINS.Peace is possible, yet Israel would not want it till she annexes the West financial institution and Gaza strips.
