No, I am not pregnant. My hubby just happened to mention that he liked one of my favorite names for a girl: Ella. It means "other". I am in to meanings and think it would be cool to name her Ella Jolie. It would translate to other jewel. Which is appropo, because my daughter's name is Rylee Margaret, which means valiant pearl. What do you think? I am also interested in hearing your ideas for middles as well.

Thanks to those that have been nice and haven't cursed me out. : )

If you don't like a question, don't answer it! I am just getting the Yahoo!Answers community's opinion. There is nothing wrong with that and what does it really matter to you.

I am mistaken about the meanings. I was up late looking up the meanings, so I may have mixed up name meanings. I am liking Ella Rose the most so far. Ella Jolie does sound pretty though! Thanks for everyone's input so far!

Sorry, Mum's, can't help myself...

* To "holeeycow": If you can't pronounce "Ella" or "Jolie" than you need to go back to kindergarten! I asked my 6 year old son to come over and sound both names out and did it perfectly. BTW, what is "holeey" supposed to sound like?????

** To "Dave": The interesting fact is that you took two minutes out of your oh-so-important life to "answer" the question. You do realize that there is actually a CATEGORY called "Baby Names"...don't you? You should! You clicked on it!

Okay, now to answer your question...

I think Ella Jolie is darling!
I also like Ella Michelle
and Ella Renee

I don't think you can really go wrong with Ella...I love that name!

Jolie means "pretty" in French.
Ella means "she" in Spanish.

Ella Marie.
Ella Dinae.
Ella Renee.
Ella Mae.
Ella Lynee.
Ella Riana.

Mostly these are "sound" based names, but I'd just pick something you like, whether it sounds good with the first name or not. Ella Jolie sounds good. But if you change your mind to Ella Nicole or Ella Samantha, it's fine too.

From http://www.babynamescountry.com/meanings/Ella.html :

"The English name Ella means - elfin; beautiful fairy-woman"

From http://www.babynames.com/name/ELLA :

"The meaning of the name Ella is Young Girl
The origin of the name Ella is Spanish
Info on this name: Also a short form of Eleanor. Ella Fitzgerald, jazz singer. "

AND LASTLY, FROM http://www.ivillage.co.uk/pregnancyandbaby/babynames/name/0,,3724,00.html?qry=ella&page=1&max=2&item=1&name=Ella&prev_name=&next_name=Jo+Ella :

"Ella, a 2-syllable girl's name of Germanic origin, means: All; beautiful. Ella's ethnic backgrounds include Italian, Norwegian and German. Entertainers with this name include Ella Fitzgerald (Musicians)."

I guess what I'm trying to say is, that there may be a hundred different meanings for the same name, each name dictionary can claim the meaning comes from different origins... each dictionary differing in their descriptions. So at the end of the day really, its a bit of believe which one you will... and may be a good idea to check all the available definitions of the name you like, because sometimes there can be negative meanings according to some name dictionaries - although I think for the name "Ella" it may not have any negative meanings... but I know the name "Claudia" for instance actually means "Blind" in some name dictionaries..
