Spraying pesticides can drift with the wind while it is being sprayed. Onto and into the soil, on other people, on water sources such as lakes and streams. Some pesticides can make people sick if it lands on them or they breathe it. It can make people sick by drinking or bathing in the water that is contaminated. I live in an agricultural area and have seen all these things actually happen to people.

Fertilizer with nitrates used in citrus farming years ago has been found to be leeched into the water tables many feet down in wells that are being used at present. If babies or people with bad immune systems drink the water it can make them sick.
