First, he seized control of the courts. Then, he seized control of the media. Now he has announced that he wants to remove term limit laws and become President for life.
He's positioning himself as dictator - a carbon copy of Castro.
Yet, he is roundly cheered by UN delegates in New York.
What does this say about the UN? What does it say about communist dictatorship-loving liberals in America? Do they really hate freedom this much? if so, why not leave America?

Good question. He's loved by the majority of liberals in America. Just look at the post above mine. This guy actually buys into the communist propaganda. Even Human Rights Watch (a liberal organization) is frightened by Chavez and claims Chavez is seizing power.

Anyone who claims Bush has radically changed the Constitution with the Patriot Act (which required a vote from the Democratically elected Congress) is a liar and a fool.

Why do you report untruths and half truths! He put all constitutional changes to a referendum which was voted on by all Venezuelans. Thus the people have given Chavez the powers that he has. He hasn't siezed any power. He has been elected by greater majorities than any US President.

The removal of the limit for a Presidential term is also subject to a referendum. That means if the people of Venezuela want this then they will vote yes. If not then they vote no. Chavez will not be President for life. He will be President until the people vote him out, regardless of how many Presidential terms he is allowed to serve.

Compare what Chavez does to your system in the US. Bush radically changed your constituion with the Patriot Act. No American citizens had any say over this. No US President ran on a platform of introducing the Patriot Act nor did any other elected representative run on this platform. They made a decision to change the rights of citizens in the US, not the people. At least the people of Venezuela get a say when their constitution is to be changed!

He's cheered at the UN because he's anti-American, not necessarily because he's Fidel Castro, Jr.

Why do "conservatives" frequently generalize about liberals to create some arcane position?

They worship him...and Osama bin Laden. Anyone who is the enemy of Bush is their friend, or so they think.
