We have a few abyssinian banana palm's that have flowered and have also been hit by some strong winds. They aren't looking very good - we have been told they die after they flower. Is this true?

How can we save them?

I've asked the missus, how long they last and she doesn't know. However, the palms shouldn't die after flowering as the flowers produce the fruit (bananas). As far as I know, banana trees last for many, many years. As for storm damage, I wouldn't worry, they should recover themselves.
