By networking them together you will be able to achieve the quickest transfer speeds. However this is not the easiest way. It depends on how large these files are. USB data sticks, external hard drives and burning to CD would be the other easier methods, providing you have the storage capacity for the task.

Two main ways. The first is "removable storage", meaning you transfer it to something you can move to the other computer. Such as CDs, DVDs, a memory stick or an external hard drive. CDs and DVDs are a good choice, because once you have moved the data, you can file away the disk and have a back up of your PC - just in case....
The other is to network the two computer. You can do this with a special network cable called a "cross over" cable. Gets it name because two of the pairs of wires in the cable are "crossed over" each other (or reversed). You plug this cable between the network cards of the two PCs and then from the Control Panel run the network setup wizard. It will connect the PCs so that you can see the hard drive of one from the "My Computer" of the other. Then it is just drag and drop.

Because I work on several computers, I use usb memory sticks all the time so my data is always portable and I back up on just two main machines at home. Also I tend to email myself a lot of stuff so its ready to pick up without my having to remember to stick the stick in! Of course you could always use CDs but then if you want to update files, not so flexible as memory sticks.

Assuming they are both on XP I would suggest that you join them together directly with a RJ45 crossover cable and then use the windows network setup wizard to create a "network" of two directly connected computers.
This should take you about 5mins to complete and will give you 100mb speeds.
There are a gazillion other ways of achieving this - but you wanted the easiest ;-)

The fastest way (best transfer speed) is using a network cable if your PC is connected to a home/office network.
else use a USB cable/device or wireless connectivity if available.

Unless you use a portable hard drive, if you need to transfer EXTREMELY LARGE amounts of data, such as completely backing up your PC.
You can get really cheap ones off of www.play.com
Or use a memory stick if its small :)
Hope this helps :)
