No. Male betta fish can not breed themselves. They must have a female to spawn with. Breeding bettas is a challenging and difficult task but basically what happens is the male builds a bubblenest, then gets the female to go underneath it. He wraps himself around her, squeezes out the eggs, fertilizes them and then puts the eggs in the nest. The female is removed from the tank and the male tends to the nest. The eggs hatch in about 2 days and a couple days later, when the fry are free swimming, the male is removed. There's a lot more to it than that, but that's basically how it goes. The female lays the eggs and the male cares for them after that. It is quite an amazing thing to watch. But you have to separate them after the eggs are layed. They will begin to fight. Bubbles appear on the water surface and the male hovers underneath them, And if one little bubble drops down....the male gets it in his mouth and puts it back up with the rest of the eggs. They do breed on thier own and there cant be any other fish in the tank when they do breed or the eggs will be eaten

males of any species generally don't lay eggs and breed by themselves, a male betta fish fertilizes the eggs and then cares for them in his bubble nest, why do you ask this question does your male have eggs or something it could be a tumor or something of that nature, although there were once female bettas that actually had been bred to have long tails and look like males but that led to identifying problems

Male's don't lay eggs. They fertilize them. A male Betta (as well as a female) will have to be conditioned very well before spawning. The male will blow a bubble nest and then when the time is right he will lure the female under the nest and wrap his body around hers and squeeze the eggs out. He will then scoop them in his mouth and blow them into the nest. The male will care for the eggs until they are free swimming then he is removed. The female is removed from the tank as soon as the spawning is finished.

It is the female that lays eggs and the male produces sperms that fertilizes the eggs. The males assumes the parental duties of caring for the eggs (placed in the bubblenest that he makes)after he has mated with a female, until the eggs have hatched and the fry freeswimming.

No, Bettas actually make love to themselves. This way, if the male Betta ever gets bored, he has something to do...
