Change the I.P. address on the router. This is not difficult. Look up the specific instructions on your manufacturer's website.

Somewhere around

Make sure your router is set as a gateway. There are two ip addresses in the netgear. One is the WAN address it gets from the modem and one is the LAN address that it generates. If the modem has Network Address Translation, which is likely, it will give an address like 192.168.1.100 to the router. The router will take that address and NAT it to the same. Check the status for the incoming address and if it is as stated you can change the LAN side to 192.168.2.1 as the start. This will give you the seperation needed. The LAN address range thru the NAT will start at 192.168.2.100. Check the web site for the maker for a complete setup instructions. Just substitute the 2.1 number.

You have both devices set up to be a DHCP server and only one is allowed on a network. You need to set up one, probably the router since it is downstream of the modem (which must also be a router as well as a modem, by the way), as a DHCP cliet instead of a server. Once the router becomes a client, it will get it's IP from the DHCP server, the modem (router)
