I think it's going to be Singapore, which is going to have Floodlights. It's going to be one of three street races next year (other two are Monaco and Valencia).

Singapore will be holding a night race next season. Would defently be intresting to watch.

I can guarentee you though that NASCAR fans and drivers had the same complaints 15 years ago when one of the larger speedways (Lowes) installed lights. Today, about every race that has a track that contains lights has a night race.

IRL does night races too, almost in the same fashion as NASCAR (if they have 'em, use 'em)

Champ Car actually held a night race on a road course a few years ago in Cleveland, but that circut isnt a street circut (its a road course on an airport runway), so light placement was much easier.

All I will say though is dont knock on night races. Im sure that, unless F1 has their heads so far up their asses that they dont know what they are getting themselves into, they have considered every possiblity with a night race on a street course, otherwise, they wouldnt think of running a race under lights.

Singapore is scheduled to be a night race. I'm a little unsure about night racing on a street circuit. Racing at night on an oval where you don't have to turn left and right and judge the distance from guard rails is quite a bit easier. Cleveland airport was mentioned earlier as an example of night racing on a temporary road course but that track is totally flat with no buildings or walls that could play with or block the lighting in certain places.

It will be very interesting to see what is going to happen.

Night races will be fine. ChampCar has done it on ovals and also at Cleveland (the temporary road course). IRL and NASCAR have been doing it on ovals for years. When done properly the lighting will be fine and the drivers will not have a problem.

This summer, while the F1 circus was at Indy, they took advantage of the lighting there to test on the circuit (using the safety car just to evaluate what it is like at night).

The dangers will be no different than in daylight racing, I think. And heck, if they do it at a time that is nice for viewers in Europe, then it means a "reasonable" early morning here in Canada rather than the middle of the night thing we're used to for the Asian races :)

I am all for them trying it. I see no problems whatsoever.

I don't think it would be dangerous. Knowing the FIA, there will be stringent rules put on how light the track must be for it to hold a night race.

Thoretically, all the drivers would have to race- since it would be a round of the championship.

The Singapore GP has been confirmed as the night race, but it is only provisional- as the track itself has not yet been confirmed.
It is a street race, and will run anti-clockwise, for safety reasons.

I'm so f***in sick of hearing people say "you cant do that in racing its too dangerous", that same attitude gave us grooved tired, put chicanes before all the great sections of great and historic tacks (this is a big reason why they cant pass), this attitude made the cars aero dependent (another reason they cant pass), racing is dangerous, if you want safe drive a bus,

a night race will be awesome, you will see the flames flair out the tail pipe every time they shift, and confetti of sparks every time they bottom out (if the wood planks don't interfere) artificial lights will make the cars paint jobs pop out at you,

if we can light an airport where 1000 ton 747s loaded with passengers can land we can run a race at night, hell navy pilots are landing planes on aircraft carriers at night with NO light every day, and they make FAR less than f1 drivers, so i say quit your b***hing and earn your pay

Yep, it's in singapore. There are also some talks about a few other countries. I think they do this so that european viewers will be able to watch it on tv during primetime... I don't know if the races will be confirmed but I know that singapore are going ahead with building the track. I don't think it will make much difference since the track would be illuminated by floodlights like on a football stadium anyway...

Yes i believe it will be held at Singapore.Stupid idea if you ask me.If a bad accident happens at night, coupled with the possibility of rain that could make it very dangerous especially at a new circuit. If they do include a night race in the calendar they should at least do it at a permanent circuit already on the formula 1 calendar like Monaco

There is supposed to be a Singapore Grand Prix planned as a night race but that is subject to adequate lighting and safety concerns. Due to Formula One being road racing I personally cannot see it happening any time soon if at all.

Finally a race in Singapore!! I can't wait to watch but I don't really like the idea of having it at night time.
