I work at Applebees as a line cook and make 11.50 an hour. I've been there a little over a year.

What have some other people made hourly in casual dining restaurants like the 99's and th olive garden?

you are doing pretty well at 11.50 for only a year, most places start around 8.00 with .25-.50 cent raises every 6-12 months. You are not going to make good money as a line cook, but you don't have to deal with any of the cheap customers like the servers do. Also you have the power in the joint, waiter pisses you off all of a sudden their food isn't ready

$11.50 is pretty darned good for a line cook. Around here (Cali) line cooks make anything between $8 and $15 depending on where you work. Hotels, resorts, and country clubs pay at the higher end of that scale.

It would depend on where you live, but in Wisconsin I can tell you our line cooks for chili's can start as low as 8/hr, and some can work their way up to a pretty high wage.

I have been a line cook before, and the co. tried paying me $8.00%hr., but that didn,t fly. I ask for $10.00 and got it; and well deserved it. $12.00 or $15.00 is the worth of the job. Not only do you do your work, but do the work of 3 people.

You'll top out at around $15.00 in the midwest. Can't say about the east or west coasts though.
