That is not the true picture.

The true picture is that she has a terrible relationship with both her parents and a so so relationship with her grandmother and a jealous relationship with her brother who Dick keep trying to get her to spend more time with. In short, she is the child of a messy divorce where both parents took a step back and let Dick's parents raise the children while Dick and his ex wifes went about the world working and playing the friend to these children. She is telling her father that he can't have it both ways. He is telling her that he just wants to be in her life. The truth is he wants it both ways. He wants to be a father and a friend. She wants him to be a father but she want him to treat her as if she were his only child when he is with her. He wants her to want to be part of a family. She wants him to accept that she is an adult at this point in her life.
The bit about the money seems to have just been the tip of the iceberg.

From what I understand, Daniele's parents were not very good parents and her paternal grandmother virtually raised her. Her father was a "convenient" father when he wasn't busy with other things in his life. Daniele is/was starving for a parental figure and her father was more interested in being her friend. I am sure there is more to it but that is what I have been able to surmize.

According to her brother when they interviewed him while she was on the block the first time, it had to do with money. He said, if memory serves me correctly, that Dick had loaned Dani money and she hadn't paid him back. It went downhill from there. I am sure there is more to it than that but that is what they put on the show.

She seems to be a spoiled brat. Dick actually seems to be a smart, down to earth guy who wants to get to know his daughter better.

I think it partially had something to do with money. Apparently he lent her some money and she didn't pay it back.
