It makes sense. JP Morgan is a financial institution. They specialize in buying and selling of National bonds, in addition to their other brokerage services. Philippines and India are the heartthrobs these days of International bond market. Everyone is high on these two countries as good investment opportunity. India for its population, recent economic booms, and the recent close ties with America, etc.. Philippines because of its educated population, close ties to America, English seems to be the 2nd language of all Filipinos, the labor is considerably cheaper than America, the local population is very hard working, reliable and efficient. Taking into consideration this potential growth, JP Morgan has decided to establish one of their International call centers in CEBU, which happens to be the most promoted part of the Philippines at the moment. The idea is to enhance the local economy but more that anything to be able to sell Philipines Bonds as well. Thus raising more investment money for the country. This will help the local economy which suffered following the closure of the Clarke's Airbase, and the facilities at Subic bay. J P Morgan is one of the first American companies to take this risk. I am sure the others will follow.
