i heard that there will be a sequel for lotr...is it true?

could you give me some details?please....

Peter Jackson is on board to direct the movie version of "The Hobbit" It is the prequel to the LOTR trilogy. It tells the story of how Bilbo Baggins (Frodo's uncle) comes into possession of the ring in the first place.

I think it will most likely be a prequel.. but I have not heard them say it's official yet.. I would think they'd start with the hobbit.. since that should have been made first.. the other stories would not make sense to anyone who hadn't watched the hobbit.. (The salmarillion and the lost tails and such)
