I like Huard, but the o-line is deteriorating, Roaf and Shields are gone, the Chiefs have no receivers, and a lot of questions at RB if Johnson does not sign something soon.
Huard is no Vince Young, his stats are great, but he can't win all by himself. And as of right now, there is no running game to take the pressure off of him.
Their defense is no better, and they really did not do anything in the last to drafts to impress anyone of the analysts, let alone actually fix any of their needs.
I am not a fan of any team in the West, but K.C, needs to do something quick, or they will be the next Oakland, only without the great defense.
*Chris W, you make good points, but that o-line did not help Green much last season(true, neither did the concussion), but like you stated, it took another step back this offseason. And while they have other guys behind Johnson, they dont have proven guys behind Johnson. (dont start on Priest. He was great, he may be again, but nobody knows till he actually plays a game.). These things just don't inspire confidence. Like I said, I like Huard, he is quality, but would you honestly bet your kids tuition on this team right now?

Geez....
This sure is a tough crowd.
The guy has been a back up to Dan Marino, Tom Brady, and Trent Green. All pro-bowl quarterbacks. The only thing consistent about his career is he PERFORMS and PRODUCES when given the opportunity to play.
The Chiefs Oline has lost Roaf and Shields. Now instead of having 3 pro bowlers playing side by side, and possibly the best Oline in NFL history, they have taken a step backwards. Now they are just above average.
Team weakness looks like it may be fullback. The leading contenders are a converted tight end and a converted linebacker. Johnson isn't the only running back, and won't come close to the number of carries he had last year. Michael Bennet, and Priest Holmes are in Camp as well. Bennet is a former pro bowler, and Priest Holmes has more than earned an opportunity for a come back. He was possibly on the way to a Hall of Fame career before his injury.

He's a decent quarterback, but he's probably better suited as a backup. He's one of those guys where you don't ask him to do much as far as making big plays, and you put in game plan where he probably won't make many mistakes.
KC is also a run first team, which took a lot of pressure off of him. He only threw the ball an average of 22 times a game. Trent Green averaged well over 30 attempts per game in 2004 and 2005. KC has some good running backs, but if they were put in a situation where Huard had to win the game with his arm, they might be in a little bit of trouble.

He did have a decent year last year, but he's 34 years old and in 10 years in the league he's started 14 games. If he does win the job he'll be behind an offensive line that has lost two long-time pro bowlers in the last two years and has sunk to possibly playing Kyle Turley at left tackle, so his protection would be sketchy.
And the talk is that they would prefer for Brodie Croyle to win the job anyway. So Huard really isn't going to be much of a factor for fantasy football and possibly not for the real team this year either, in my opinion.

supposedly there is a QB battle going on between him and their rookie, depends on whether he wins the starter job or not. but yeah i agree he played well last season, seems to be grossly undervalued especially on yahoo so he might have been worth picking up in a later round if you have a solid starter. but he probably wont be a superstar so if your first qb is mediocre it might be better to pick up a safer #2 guy

The team has taken a giant step backwards in many areas....the offensive line is a patchwork and it is going to be a long season for any QB.

I agree with you, he is a good QB, probably better than trent green, people just doubt him because he doesnt have alot of starting experience that's all but with all the rookie qbs that did well last year this doesnt mean much.

Houston's secondary is easily pathetic. regardless of the run-first mentality, i think of you need to take Huard over Harrington. Minnesota has a first rate protection, and would prepare some stress on Harrington. a minimum of Huard has Gonzo.
