i have always wondered......i mean i know they communicate, but do they actually have like conversations....? for instance do they talk about the weather, things that are on their minds, or the food that they just ate......?

They certainly communicate with each other, although at a very basic level, to express various emotions and feelings relating to basic instincts and needs such as of self preservation and procreation. For example, males will go to elaborate acts of song and dance (literally) to attract females, animals have a way to warn others about an imminent danger through special sounds they make, ways to signal that food is nearby etc.
They also communicate with humans, look at all the dogs cats etc, they communicate with us but, as I said, on a very basic level.

yea they do! :o)

i believe that they communicate for sure, but in different ways than we do,not with words or by "talking" but they have other special qualities which might be their way of communicating like by the way they wag their tails and barking/meowing/whatever noise they make. xoxoxo<3

i don't think they talk about weather though i think they talk about much more interesting stuff that human haven't even thought about yet! :)

ps. they have feelings too

Yes - - - but then I am a Cat person who has 'conversations' with dogs and trees. My feeling is that though noises may be emitted, most animal communication is telepathic - - - even if only on the level of reading emotions & feelings...
I have seen dogs staring at each other for nearly an hour heads and tails bobbing and dumb as some 'mutts' might be it is hard to dismiss their interaction as mere proximinity to one another.

A quick example; PUMA CAT is black and the upstairs dog is black so I tend to call them 'twins.' When upstairs neighbor takes dog for nightly dump run if they happen to run into Puma, the Dog gives an excited 'friendly' yelp, Puma circles him while making eye contact, more yips, then Puma flops on his back, stretching paws, clearly a gesture of 'comfort,' this dog is his pal, they'll spend several minutes making shifting eyes gestures while Puma rolls around or jumps up, dog mostly spiraling around, tongue hanging, drooling, which is Dogs way to say things - - -
Know that human phrase, 'Say it Don't Spray It,' for Dogs it is different, the more they drool the more they are 'talking.'
Anyhow Puma clearly 'conversea' with upstair dog for the brief minutes we humans interact before going seperate ways our 'pets' expected to go where we demand.

(My version of typical cat to dog chat; "Howzit?" "Great, just ate," f^rts, "cleaned the plate, my human only buys me the best," "my humans are the best, she always uses baby wipes with lotion," content doggy b^tt wiggle, "I prefer burying my own," in reference to p^^ and toilet habits, cat sigh, "to each their own," :well, gotta go, take it slow," "yo," "laters.")

Peace....

I think they exchange ideas and emotions/moods. I think some animals are more egocentric than others.
I don't think they ponder things too much like us humans do. They are much better at living in the moment than we are.

In reality they probably don't have the brain power to really get that complex, but the way they interact sometimes you can imagine it.

the closest research we have is of Koko the sign language gorilla. She lost her mate and carried his blanket around for months and was depressed... i think their language is much more simple but do experience the same emotions as humans,,

I just don't think their thoughts are complex enough for that to occur.
