Possible to protect the eyes from wind, sun, dirt etc...
Also, it could just be genetics. Like, after generations of mating with people with certain facial features it becomes a trait.

:)

Genetics and evoloution, and/or God just designed us this way. It's just the way it is. Why do people have red hair, blond hair? Why doesn't red or blond hair occure naturally in eastern cultures. As for Dark skinned people in Africa... how does that make sense when Africa had some of the most dense jungles in the world, yet India and Egypt has desert and only got tanned colored skin. China has the Gobi desert yet no black people. South east asia with dense forests and jungles have no black colored people, they have no open wind swept plains yet still have slanted eyes.

how about natural selection... early cavemen discriminated against if you looked different. In the far east, no colored eyes except brown slanted eyes, no different colored hair except black... all others get out or get slauthered... maybe it was a fashion preference and all other round, square and triangled eyed people died lonely and alone, ending those genetic differences in those parts of the world. Africa you must have black skin!!! Nordic areas... only white skin!. How about, certain colors of skin were able to camouflage better hiding ancient humans from predator animals, maybe ancient preditors animals liked the taste of certain colored people better in different parts of the world??? who really knows.

Asians have slanted eyes because we came from the steppe climates of China, which is really windy. The slant of the eyes was meant to protect the eyes from the wind and dirt, much like dark skin protecting Africans from the hot sun of Africa.

Couple things

Asians are not the only ones with slanted, almond shaped eyes. If you go to West Africa, you will see plenty of people with similar eye shapes.

The shape evolved from environmental conditions in order to ward off the cold weather and/ or dust and prevent them from getting into the eyes.

Asian have a Mongolian fold to their eyelid. It is the eyelid that makes it look slanted. This eyelid make it easier for them to squint and protect their eyes from dust. So yes it does have an advantage over European eyes in that sense.

The slant look is a small mutation, so is the yellowish skin color that usually goes with that, it probably had some evolutionary advantage, but it is difficult to pinpoint the reasons behind this mutation, since mutations like that usually evolve with a small, separate group of people, and we don't know where the original mutation first appeared.

If it's not meant to be racist, try using a different term...or better yet, no term at all. Remember, cultural diversification is a good thing. Instead of questioning it...accept it as the wonders of humanity.
