Suede is a natural product, consisting of the hide of an animal. It's the reverse of the smooth leather side. Microsuede is a synthetic product that is made of polyester (and may be made of some other synthetics, I don't know). It is designed to be an imitation of suede and has the soft feel of suede. It is often used for furniture covering.

Microsuede is a man made fabric that looks and feels just like real suede. Suede of coarse is leather.
