Yes they can! Actually certain fish can drown. Bettas, Gouramis Leaf Fish and lungfish for example,can drown. All these species need oxygen. (all fish need oxygen but the vast majority of them absorb it through their gills unlike these few other fishes which directly take it from the air) If the water has no exposure to air, then they can drown from lack of oxygen. They do have breathing organs called labyrinths. (this is of course if you don't aerate their water and only leave them with still water).

yes they can drown, they need oxygen in the water 2 breath. if the water is polluted and it is depriving the water of oxygen then it will cause the fish 2 drown

well in a sense yes. Fish need disolved oxygen in the water to breathe. With an insufficient ammount of disolved oxygen in the water the can virtually suffocate underwater and in effect technically drown. Lack of oxygen to the brain while being underwater = drowning. So yes they can.

Yes,if the water they are in is too low in oxygen,they can,in effect,drown from oxygen deprivation.

i'm not sure about other fish, but a shark can drown if it stops swimming.

i dont think so, unless you have african dwarf frogs that cant reach the surface for air or a labrinth fish like dwarf gouramis that have broken gills but still can breath air from the surface but cant reach the surface. can fish swim?

yes if for some reason they cant swim.I had a fish that deowned was not fun
