A college student dates a girl and has a boyfriend on the side. He goes home for holiday vacation and comes out to his girlfriend and then to his parents. He went to school for an althetic scholarship.. i think.. don't hold me to that.. and then later on his father told him that it was okay he was gay because his favorite author was gay and he turned out fine.

hmm.. Sounds like it could be Doing Time on Maple Drive.. but I'm not sure.. it has been on Lifetime.. but I dont' think it's been on recently..
