Wizards can do magic, while muggles seem to be better at everything else. For example wizarding society is woefully behind Muggle society in nearly every field of human endeavor from philosophy (lacking Plato, Nietzche) to math(nothing beyond basic arithmetic) even though they have been around longer. Their knowledge and education is so limited because it only centers on magic, while Muggle schools teach things like science which actually examines how nature works or foreign language. As Hermione said, "Most wizards don't have an ounce of logic." Without logic their is no intelligence and so the average Muggle is probably smarter than the average wizard. Wizarding society is woefully backward with "cruel and unusual punishment" like Azkaban and no good art forms, no Da Vinci, U2, or even Judy Garland . Subjects at Hogwarts like Transfiguration are a joke compared to fields like physics. I'd rather be a Muggle and smart than magical. Any thoughts on this?

I'd rather be a witch. If you can do magic then you really don't need all of the appliances and education that muggles have. You don't need to know most of the stuff you learn in muggle school anyway and most of the time you don't remember what you learn after years have passed. If you can do magic then physics is pretty much pointless. Plus if you're a wizard and are interested in muggle things you could always exchange your money for muggle money and do or buy muggle things. Just because you're a wizard doesn't mean you have to miss out on things going on in muggle society. The thing is is that if you're a muggle then you will miss out on things going on in the wizarding world therefore I'd rather be a wizard and get to live in both worlds.

Logic and intelligence are two seperate things. And the wizarding world seems to be pretty intelligent, on par with, and in some areas ahead of, the muggle community.
Transfiguration a joke compared to physics? Try this on for size. A recent History Channel show on alchemy said that it has been discovered how to turn some other material into gold. All that's happening is the molecules are being re-written, but it takes a massive amount of nuclear energy to do this and you get less than half a gram, making it just not worth it. But you could transfigure a coffee cup into an equal sized gold nugget.
Herbology is very much like botany. Potions equivalent would be chemistry. History of magic, History. Astronomy, well well, it's muggle equivalent is Astronomy. Divination, come on, how many people check out their horoscope in the paper. That's the same thing, as is astrology. Care of Magical Creatures, bit like zoology. Only charm's seems something that doesn't have a muggle equivalent or has not been theorized possible in the real world.

Wizard. Who needs all that nonsense when you have magic? What do I care about the rate of which I will fall from a tall building if I can wave my wand and levitate. No good art? They have pictures that have personalities and mirrors that show your heart's most true desire, that is better than anything Muggles created. They have foreign language as they have communities all over the world and Fleur spoke a different language as well as English. All in all the wand is better than the brain. There is nothing a muggle can do that a wizard can't do better with the wave of a wand.

I would be like Harry, or Hermione: raised by muggles, taught by wizards. That way, you get a taste of both worlds. Besides, wizards do have intelligence: they manage to turn uncontrollable 6-year-old magic into wonderful (or horrible) magic by the age of seventeen (read HP7). Therefore; wizards are just as intelligent as muggles, but in different ways. The wizards even take their own intelligence for granted.

I'd rather be like Hagrid....Hang out in the woods, do magic only when necessary...and enjoy life. He knows just enough about both to be happy, unless someone messes with him. If left alone...he would be the magical muggle half giant I would like to be.
Other than that...Muggle all the way...

As you saw in the books, the kids started to evolve and developed a kind of logic that you seek. Preferably I'd like to be a wizard with great knowledge and common sense.

There is no need to know how light bulbs, for example, work when you can use a spell (lumos) and then have light anyway. Why should they learn everything about sciences when they can do anything with their wants.

If you can do magic to help you get most of what you want then you don't need to be smart. It's easier that way.
