I have alway Loved Elvis from the moment I was introduce to him when I was a little girl. Today is the 30th anniversary of his Death. So, I just want to find out if people think he was prejudice toward Black people like it has been rumored. I don't think so.

About as prejudiced as a man born in the South around 1935 in Mississippi might be.

In 1957, Presley had to defend himself from claims of being overtly racist: he was alleged to have said: "The only thing ***** people can do for me is to buy my records and shine my shoes." The singer always denied saying such a racist remark.

With that being said and to set your mind at ease, it should also be told that Jet magazine, run by and for African-Americans, subsequently investigated the story and found no basis to the claim. However, the Jet journalist did find plenty of testimony that Presley saw people as people "regardless of race, color or creed".

No, he wasn't. The rumor you mention possibly stems from an incident that occurred in 1975 during one of his concerts when his backup singers, the Sweet Inspirations, walked out on him after he remarked that their breath "smelled like catfish." More on the incident can be found here: http://www.snopes.com/music/artists/presley3.asp

Possibly. Where do you think he got his moves from and some of his music?

If you've ever seen Dreamgirls and how they talk about how back in those days often black artists would get their songs and whatnot taken by white artists to make it more mainstream or something

Well, he learned to sing in a black church, learned the guitar from a black man, and later in life, his backup vocals were done bu the Sweet Inspirations, which had at least 2 black female singers. Don't seem like it to me!!!!
