Not sure when or what you are trying to get rid of smoke but suggest burning a candle in the room, it appears to work.
Someone once suggested cutting a lemon in half and leaving the half's either end of but never got around to trying it.

Out of what:

Your car: Place a bowl of amonia in the car roll up the windows and close it up for a few hours. Then roll down the windows for a few hours. The smoke smell is 90% gone.

Your home: You can try the method above but place a couple bowls of amonia in all the rooms of the house and close it up for a few hours like go to work in the morning and when you have lunch go home and open the windows and turn on fans in the windows. The smell of amonia can make people and animals sick.

Or you can try placing bowls of vinegar in the room. Since vinegar is non toxic it can be used around children and pets, and you don't have to be out of the house to use this one.

You also can use vinegar to remove the smell out of walls, furniture, any nonporus surface by: mixing a cup of white vinegar and a gallon of water and using it to wash the surfaces.

Cloth furniture and carpets: Get a steam cleaner and use white vinegar instead of detergent. Follow the manufacturers instructions for the steam cleaner.

For clothes: Either get them dry cleaned or wash as usual and add a cup or two of white vinegar to the rinse cycle.

*The nice thing about vinegar is the smell of it goes away with the cigarete smoke smell.

Its not clear if your're simply talking about clearing out smoke or getting the smell out of something. Its also not clear what the something is.

If you're asking how to get rid of the odor in the air - believe it or not, get 2 pots. Put a cup of water in one & a cup of vinegar in the other. Heat both until they reach a boil, then turn them off & let them sit there. Any smell will disappear.

If you need smoke removed from clothing, or some other fabric, the best thing is to hang them outside. If they are washable, you can try putting vinegar in the rinse water, too.

Hope one of these answers your question.

Clean like crazy everything change lamp shades scrub down walls. Then prime the house and paint it! It is absolutely the only way to get rid of it for good and now you must go 20 feet away from my door to smoke! Oh and I ripped up all carpets too and put down wood floors! Took down all curtains have shutters. Washed all bedding replaced pillows! Its a job but we had new baby coming home and could not stand it. Good Luck!

I'd try vinegar and water, depending on what you want to remove the smoke smell from. A wipedown on upholstered furniture might help, it might not. Ditto draperies.

Maybe a steam machine with vinegar water in it would be more effective on drapes or upholstery.

Clothing can be washed or dry cleaned. Wooden surfaces can be wiped down with a lemon oil polish.

I have heard if you put a bowl of coffee beans (not grounds) in your home, they absorb the smoke smell.
